Narration in Space – Getting Started with AR

AR workshop on April 12th: Join artist Nadine Kolodziey to create site-specific augmented reality experiences around the Heilandskirche.

How do you tell stories within a space, and what happens when digital content interacts directly with a real-world location? That is precisely what the workshop ‘Narration in Space – First Steps with AR’ is all about.

On April 12th 2026, from 1 pm to 4 pm, the Westkreuz / Heilandskirche will be the venue for creative experiments with augmented reality. Participants will develop small-scale AR interventions designed specifically for the surroundings of the Heilandskirche. Rather than purely technical demonstrations, the focus will be on an artistic engagement with the site: how can architecture, history or atmosphere be digitally commented on or enhanced?

The work will be carried out using the Scenery app. This allows existing 3D objects to be placed in the space, adjusted and related to their surroundings. Step by step, small site-specific AR scenes will emerge, demonstrating how digital content can enable a place to be experienced in a new way.

The workshop will be led by Nadine Kolodziey, a mixed-reality artist based in Frankfurt and Berlin. In her work, she combines digital and analogue materials and develops, among other things, walk-in AR installations that have already been exhibited internationally, for example in Japan.

The workshop is specifically aimed at beginners; no prior knowledge is required. Anyone wishing to take part should bring their own laptop and an iPhone or iPad with the Scenery app installed. A limited number of iPads can be provided on site.

Participation costs 20 euros; registration is open until 29 March via email to xr@kurzsuechtig.de.
